HISTORY
DONINGTON Le Heath manor dates back as far as the late 1280's and was once owned by Everard Digby, one of the members of the infamous Gunpowder Plot group along with Guy Fawkes. Everard Digby was executed for his role in the plot in 1606. Many of the 13th & 17th century features have remained intact.
Donington Le Heath had been a family home for approximately 700 years, until 1960. Between 1966 & 1973 the manor house was restored to the condition that can be seen today. Of course, Donington Le Heath Manor may still be home to some...
GHOSTS & HAUNTINGS
Donington Le Heath manor has long been thought of as a haunted property, and there are many tales of ghostly phenomenon associated to it.
THE MEDIEVAL MAN
One ghostly inhabitant who appears to roam Donington Le Heath is that of a man dressed in medieval attire. When he is seen he appears just as solid as any other person, only he has a habit of vanishing never to be found.
THE WHITE LADY of DONINGTON
A white lady has been seen by many staff within the manor and its grounds. She is described as wearing clothes dating to the 14th Century. Her favourite haunting area is the kitchens, formerly an Undercroft.
THE UNSEEN SPECTRE
Phantom footsteps are frequently heard within Donington Le Heath manor, with many reports coming from visitors to the property. On ocassion the footsteps are heard alongside what appears to be the sound of jangling keys. The hall is this characters favourite area of the manor.
THE 'BAD' ROOM
One room within the manor has the strange effect of making people feel nauseous. Could this be the lingering energies of a traumatic event which took place here in this room?
